Yagaji Island Honey Experience Lunch Plan for Hotel Guests Only

Oriental Hotel Okinawa Resort & Spa has partnered with Okinawa Bee Happy, a beekeeping farm that produces natural honey on Yagaji Island in the northern part of Okinawa. Our hotel set up a honey hive on Yagaji Island under the care of Mr. Miura, the beekeeper, in May 2022 and since then, whenever the honey is harvested, it is available in our Club Lounge. Generally, beekeeping involves feeding bees with sugar water to help them survive low temperatures in winter. However, Mr. Miura has adopted a method that does not feed the bees or use pesticides to experminate pests. The bees collect nectar only from the naturally growing flowers and refine it into a lovely tasting honey.

Yagaji Island Honey Experience Lunch Plan
We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to experience not only the charm of bees and honey, but also the richness of Yagaji Island nature and, by extension, Yambaru.

Okinawa Bee Happy
The beekeeping family on Yagaji Island in the northern part of Okinawa Island is not just looking for excitment but for a product that is delicious. Their goal is to provide activities that connect people to their concept "If the bees are happy, everyone will be happy." They produce pure honey created from the nectar of the flowers that grow naturally on the island. In addition to conducting educational programs for elementary school students on Yagaji Island, they do workshops, lectures, and event booths in various places both in and outside of Okinawa.

Yagaji Island Honey
The flavor of honey varies depending on the location and the type of flower that is the source of the nectar. The honey produced on Yagaji Island is called "Hyakka Mitsu" which means "the sweetness of 100 flowers." This honey clearly showcases the strong flavor of the fragrance of the flowers. It leaves the impression that you are savoring the nector of 100 flowers.

CALiN cafe & zakka (misc. items)
CALiN is a café and miscellaneous goods shop on Yagaji Island that offers dishes using plenty of local Yambaru ingredients. They also sell various items made by Okinawan artists. One of the menu items, Shima Donut Honey Parfait, uses Yagaji Island honey and is topped with pollen balls taken directly from the beehive.
