At Oriental Hotel Okinawa Resort & Spa, we saw an opportunity to elevate this modern phenomenon by infusing it with the art of "Ryukyu Chinese" cuisine. Oriental Ryukyu Malatang preserves the interactive thrill of building your own bowl, but elevates it with premium, locally sourced Okinawan ingredients. This is a brand-new experience that transcends standard hot pot and casual street food.
The true secret to our distinct soup bases lies in our proprietary blend of indigenous Okinawan spices: fiery island chili, aromatic pipachi (island long pepper), and the sweet, herbal notes of gettou (shell ginger). By marrying traditional Chinese Sichuan flavors with the aromatic heritage of Okinawa’s time-honored wellness ingredients (Kusuimun), we have created a brilliant, multi-dimensional taste profile that goes far beyond simple heat. Each course features a set portion of premium Okinawan meats as well as the bounty of the sea. In addition, a buffet-style selection offers oer 50 ingredients and toppings such as fresh vegetables, fish cakes, and noodles, giving guests the freedom to create their own unique bowl. It is a one-of-a-kind malatang experience.
