The SPIRITS FAIR is an opportunity to showcase some of Okinawa's uniqueness. We are presenting six types of alcohol created at different awamori breweries throughout Okinawa. We hope that you will enjoy these specialties that have used plenty of Okinawan ingredients to bring out their individual flavors. Okinawa is not only about awamori and we want to introduce you to more!

Ie Rum Santa Maria Gold

This rum is made from the juice of sugarcane grown on Ie Island, Okinawa Prefecture, and is produced at the distillery on the west coast of Ie Island. The rum is made in barrels that have been used for making domestic whiskey for decades. The aging process inside the charred barrels gives the rum a sweet and delightful aroma.

THE OKINAWA ISLANDS RUM

Even within Okinawa, brown sugar has unique flavors that vary depending on climate and production methods. Eight types of brown sugar from different islands were used to create individual rum types. These eight flavors have been carefully blended and put together into one bottle creating one rum packed with great flavor.

JAPANESE CRAFT GIN ORI-GIN

This  tropical and rich gin was developed in order to convey the appeal of Okinawa in just one sip. It is made from awamori created from the yeast of cherry blossoms that grow in Motobu and are known as Japan's first-of-the-year cherry blossoms, juniper berries, and nine other Okinawan plants.

Mizuho Sake Brewery

NAVY STRENGTH GIN

A fruity and spicy craft gin made with karaki (Okinawa cinnamon), tankan (citrus), and kabuchi (citrus) all native to Okinawa. The alcohol content is as high as 57 percent allowing you to enjoy the rich flavor. This is a limited edition product that is made with ingredients harvested within that year, so the aroma and flavor will vary slightly year to year depending on the harvest.

Masahiro OKINAWA GIN

Okinawa's first craft gin was produced by Masahiro Sake Brewery in the southern part of Okinawa Island. The sophisticated gin flavor was created through using distillation techniques cultivated through awamori production and adding Okinawan botanicals to it. The six kinds of botanicals are shikuwasa, bitter gourd, guava leaves, roselle, juniper berries, and long peppers.

Imuge is a fantastic Ryukyu alcohol made from rice, sweet potatos, and Okinawan brown sugar. It's neither awamori nor shochu. It is IMUGE. The first sip is very light and mellow. You can feel the refreshing flavor derived from rice, followed by the fragrant sweetness of purple sweet potato and minerals derived from brown sugar.
