2024 Summer Event Information: NIGHT BREEZE @resort (Cool off in a Yambaru summer evening.)

Introducing NIGHT BREEZE @resort July 1, 2024 to October 31, 2024

During your stay, you can enjoy Okinawa nights with adult activities such as sanshin performances and an opportunity to read select books from a pop-up book shop as well as water gun fights, stargazing, insect light traps, and traditional Eisa performances all at the night poolside. Other events that can be enjoyed by both adults and kids are the puzzle-solving mystery games (available in Japanese only) and the Stamp Rally.

Summer Homework Support & Sabani Workshop
For kids staying at the hotel, students from Tokyo Gakugei University who are interning at the hotel will be providing summer homework support and doing a Sabani workshop. Homework such as independent research can also be supported. Please feel free to check it out. There are students majoring in music, science, Japanese, and math. For the Sabani workshop, first you will learn about Okinawa's traditional boat called the Sabani. Then you will make a mini oar for yourself (numbers are limited).

Sanshin Live
The sounds of classical and folk songs played on the sanshin can be heard at the nighttime Garden Pool under the starry sky feeling the gentle night breeze.

Hanauta Bookstore
Hanauta Bookstore is located in Nakijin Village in the northern part of Okinawa. The small bookstore opens once a month and selects books based on their evaluation of books that make great gifts. They focus on books from publishers that are not well-known but who produce books with great care.
 

Water Gun Fight! Defend yourself from the glowing Samurai!
The glowing samurai is possessed by the evil Majmun! In this game, you fight back against the glowing samurai who comes after you. Use your water gun to keep shooting at him until his lights go out.
Dates: Fridays 7/26, 8/2, 8/9, 8/16, 8/23

Stargazing
The skies in Okinawa are very clear and there are fewer light sources near the hotel so it is easy to see the stars. Take some time to enjoy the stars even more with help from some professionals.

Insect Light Trap (Insect Observation) with Dr. Yambaru Mushi
Set on a hill and surrounded by greenery, our hotel is a treasure trove of living things. If you set out a night trap, you may find native or introduced species or you may encounter rare insects. A staff member who knows Okinawa insects will tell you about them in an easy-to-understand manner. This is a great opportunity to learn about ecosystems and environmental conservation!

Traditional Eisa

Mr. Kishimote, leader of Team Come Back Yambaru Quina, will talk about the ecology of the Quina, the challenges they face, and the importance of protecting them and protecting Okinawa's rich natural environment.

Display of Japan's Largest Butterfly, Idea Leuconoe
The Idea Leuconoe is also known as the Lady of the Southern Islands because of its graceful flight through the sky. It is also said that it shines golden when in its chrysalis and brings happiness to those who see it. The display includes larvae, pupae, and adults so that you can see the butterfly's development up close.
