At Oriental Hotel Okinawa Resort & Spa, we are preparing 2023 Year End and 2024 New Year's holiday events for everyone from kids to adults to enjoy!
For New Year's Eve we have a lineup which includes a countdown live performance by solo artist Yuko Narisoko who is from Ishigaki Island and whose "Dynamic Ryukyu" song has become a hot topic especially for sporting events. There will also be an Eisa performance by Ryujin Densetsu and an original quiz program which you can participate in from your room to win prizes. There will be a fireworks display coinciding with the countdown.
Other events during the holidays include an Okinawa History Lecture using humor to make learning fun, a New Year's Day Lion Dance which parades through the lobby area, sanshin live performances--a perfect way to begin a new year in Okinawa, and Ryukyu Traditional Dance performed by the group Mutsu no Hana. The heated Garden Pool will be open so everyone can enjoy their first swim of the New Year!

The lion dance parades around the lobby area offering their good wishes for the new year and offering to ward off evil spirts by "biting" your head! The costumes are made from banana fibers.
