2024 Okinawa Bullfighting Tournament Schedule Information

Bullfighting in Okinawa is a longstanding tradition. Bulls fight each other using their horns. The one rule to remember is that if you run away, you lose. In the heavy class, bulls can weigh in around 1000 kilograms. Watching them collide is a sight! Some match-ups can be decided in seconds while others can last up to 30 minutes.

Uruma City is known as the bullfighting town in Okinawa and tournaments are held about 20 times every year at the Ishikawa Multipurpose Dome. The All Island Bullfighting Tournament is held spring, summer, and fall and is an event that attracts many fans.

Normally, tournaments charge a 3,000 yen entrance fee. However, the bullfight held at the Uruma Festival every October is part of a larger festival and is therefore free to watch.
